This policy explains how RateMyTennisCoach.com handles information when you browse coaches, create an account, post a review, suggest a profile correction, or claim a coach profile.
Information you provide
Account information includes your email address, public nickname, tennis level, age group, and gender selection. We also process the reviews, ratings, coaching preferences, lesson details, profile corrections, and ownership claims you submit. Account authentication is handled through Supabase.
Sign in with Google
If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides basic account information such as your email address, name, profile picture, and account identifier through our authentication provider. We use this information to create or identify your account and let you sign in. Google handles your Google password; you do not provide it to RateMyTennisCoach. You can review or revoke access in your Google Account settings.
What appears publicly
Published reviews display your public nickname, the player’s tennis level, age group, and gender selection, along with the ratings, review content, and lesson details you submit for publication. These details may describe a child when a parent reviews on their behalf. Your login email is not displayed as part of a public review. Public coach profiles include coaching names, affiliations, venue addresses, and other published coaching information. Approved corrections may appear in profile edit history.
Public pages can be indexed by search engines and copied or shared by others. Avoid including private contact details, payment details, or information identifying a child in your nickname or review.
Private verification documents and claims
If you request lesson verification or claim a coach profile, we collect the documents and supporting information you upload. Evidence files are stored in private storage and are accessible to authorized reviewers and administrators for verification and moderation. They are not displayed in public reviews. Redact unrelated financial information, identification numbers, and other unnecessary personal information before uploading. A verification badge describes our review of the submitted evidence; it does not make the evidence public.
Location and maps
The “Use my current location” feature requests your browser’s permission to obtain your location so the app can find and sort nearby coaches. You can instead search by city or ZIP code, or revoke permission in your browser or device settings. Your device location is not included in public reviews or coach profiles.
Map features use OpenStreetMap tiles and map resources delivered through third-party services, including UNPKG. Coach venue addresses may be sent to the U.S. Census geocoding service to locate them on the map. Requests to these services can disclose technical information such as your IP address and the map area requested, subject to those services’ privacy policies.
How information is used and shared
We use information to operate the coach directory, authenticate users, publish reviews, verify lesson evidence and coach ownership, review corrections, communicate about accounts, and prevent abuse. Service providers supporting these functions include Supabase for authentication, database and file storage; Cloudflare for hosting and email delivery; and Google when you choose Google sign-in. These providers may process information in countries other than your own.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, investigate abuse, or protect users and the service. Do not submit information you are not authorized to share.
Browser storage and technical records
The app uses browser storage to maintain authentication sessions and support features such as returning to an action after signing in and caching map lookups. Hosting and authentication services may process technical records, including IP addresses, request details, and errors, to operate and secure the service. Signing out ends the app session; browser settings let you clear stored site data.
Retention and security
We retain information as needed to operate accounts, maintain reviews and moderation records, address disputes, and meet applicable obligations. Private verification uploads are retained for verification and related moderation purposes; they are not automatically deleted immediately after a decision. Access controls restrict private information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and requests
You can update available account details through your profile and control browser location permissions. To request access, correction, account deletion, removal of submitted content, or deletion of verification documents, email info@ratemytenniscoach.com. Include the account email and enough information to identify the request, without sending passwords or sensitive documents. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, or dispute-related reasons; search engine caches and third-party copies may remain after content is removed from our service.
Children’s information
Parents and guardians should submit reviews on behalf of young children and use broad age groups rather than dates of birth. Do not include a child’s full name, home address, school schedule, or other identifying details in public content. If you believe a child’s personal information has been submitted inappropriately, contact us to request review and removal.
